Providing Safe Space for African Women

Our weekly coffee mornings give women a secure forum to talk about, share, and gain knowledge from one another’s experiences. These are unofficial meetings that we conduct with experts. FGM, mental health, domestic abuse, reproductive health, and family law are among the significant subjects we cover.

The following are some examples of topics that were suggested and determined via group discussions: The effect of domestic abuse on children’s mental health

  • Gender dynamics within the community
  • Intergenerational connections
  • The “value” of a woman in the house, community, and family
  • Sexuality and sex

Community Engagement

Facts about our community we support

We are focused on fostering meaningful relationships with the community and encouraging active participation in programs designed to empower and support

Our strategies

  • Community workshops – regular events to provide space for discussions, education and action
  • Organisational partnerships – collaborations with local groups and organisations to create networks of support and resources
  • Advocacy – raise awareness and campaign about critical issues affecting women and girls

We provide signposting to services offered by our partners, training and advocacy in communities, schools training and youth engagement, as well as training and support for frontline professionals from health and social services, legal, law enforcement, academic institutions and non-profits.
