Schools, in our opinion, are essential for safeguarding and assisting girls who have been impacted by or are at risk of FGM. Schools are in a unique position to address FGM because of their connections to professionals, families, and the larger society.
Our services are intended to help parents, teachers, and outside organizations who collaborate with schools better understand the main concerns affecting girls in the impacted communities. We provide culturally sensitive and age-appropriate lessons to secondary and college students as well as to primary level 5 and 6 pupils. For all employees enrolled in train-the-trainer courses, we also provide safeguarding sessions.
Professional Training
Our school training and workshops assist teachers and students in defending girls who are at risk of female genital mutilation. Additionally, our training for professionals like educators and healthcare providers enhances their ability to address the particular needs of African women and girls.
Our specialized training gives professionals the information, abilities, and self-assurance they need to protect vulnerable women and girls from FGM and other dangerous practices.
The topics we cover include, but are not limited to;
What is FGM/C and how can you support survivors and other women and girls vulnerable to it?
Other forms of VAWG: how to spot the signs of abuse, how to support survivors and best practice for reporting crimes.
Taking an intersectional approach when doing community work
The role of wellness in supporting survivors of VAWG
