Nistawi Women / Projects

End FGM

We conduct workshops on women's health, FGM, and welfare for communities that practice FGM in collaboration with a specialized FGM midwife. These programs are customized for the people we work with, making sure we offer an interpreter and a well-known, accessible location.

Training

Our training covers a wide range of topics, from personal development and leadership skills to health education and digital literacy. We also focus on advocacy, equipping participants with the tools to campaign against harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and promote gender equality.

Community Engagement

Through workshops, events, and collaborative initiatives, we create spaces where voices are heard, experiences are shared, and solutions are co-created. Our efforts not only raise awareness of key issues such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and gender-based violence but also empower individuals to advocate for themselves and their communities.

Support Services

Our trauma-informed approach provides a safe, confidential space for those affected by issues like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), gender-based violence, and social exclusion. We provide counseling, health education, and advocacy, alongside practical assistance with access to education, employment, and community resources.

Ambassador Programme

Our Ambassadors at Nistawi Women are champions of change, representing our mission to tackle racial and gender inequality. These empowered community members advocate for an end to harmful practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and promote gender equality within their communities. Through leadership training, public speaking, and community outreach, our Ambassadors raise awareness, inspire action, and drive positive change.

Refugees & Asylum Seekers

committed to empowering refugees and asylum seekers, providing tailored support to help them build stable, fulfilling lives in the UK. Our organization offers essential resources, including access to education, employment support, mental health services, and guidance on navigating new systems and communities. We believe in creating a welcoming environment where individuals can find safety, rebuild their lives, and connect with a supportive community. By addressing the unique challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers, Nistawi Women fosters resilience, independence, and hope for a brighter future.

National Databank / Hub

We’re proud to serve as a National Databank Hub, providing crucial data access for BAME communities, refugees, and asylum seekers across the UK. Our goal is to break down digital barriers, ensuring that vulnerable and underserved individuals have the resources to stay connected, access essential services, and participate more fully in society. With a dedicated focus on those facing racial and gender inequality, we empower communities with the tools needed for education, employment, and well-being. Through this initiative, Nistawi Women is fostering digital inclusion and bridging the gap for those who need it most.

Mental Health Support

At Nistawi Women, we understand that mental health is fundamental to empowerment and well-being, especially for those facing racial and gender inequality. Our mental health support services provide a safe and confidential space for women and families to discuss challenges, access counseling, and build resilience. We offer culturally sensitive programs that address the unique mental health needs of BAME communities, refugees, and asylum seekers, helping individuals manage stress, trauma, and isolation. Through support groups, workshops, and one-on-one guidance, Nistawi Women promotes healing, connection, and a sense of belonging for those who need it most.
